Laser hair removal process

Laser hair removal has proven to be a very popular non-surgical cosmetic procedure; It is a non-invasive, convenient way to permanently remove unwanted facial or body hair.

Preparation

These are a few simple instructions to make sure your results are as satisfying as possible. First, you would need to stay out of the sun because a recent suntan or sunburn can sensitise the area and can adversely affect treatment effectiveness. Second, you would need to reduce the length of hair in the area to be treated. And third, the treatment area should be absolutely clean of any lotions, creams, makeup, sun block, perfume or any other chemicals or skincare products. These can cause allergic reactions, reducing the effectiveness of the treatment.

Treatment

Prior to your treament you would have a consultation with Dr Nodas kapositas. This is a very important step as you would have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have and also Dr Kapositas would be able to examine your medical history in order to avoid any forms of complications with different types of hormones that play an important role in the whole process. Also, some types of medications can affect the effectiveness of the treatment.

The actual treatment is done with Laser Alexandrite which is based On cooling system. Most men and women do not need local aneasthetic cream. Our laser uses low energy. The light emitted by the laser is absorbed primarily by the pigment located in the hair follicle. Most of hair but not all are destroyed during the treatment. Fair skinned people with dark hair are the best candidates for this treatment because dark skin will absorb too much of the laser's energy.

After the treatment

The treated area will be come slightly red. After the treatment we use a special skin cream to reduce the redness in the affected areas and also sun block cream. The hair follicles must be in the growth stage to be deadened by the laser's energy. Since not all hair follicles are ever in the growth stage at one time, more than one session will be needed (around 6) to treat all follicles. The length and number of sessions needed will depend on the size of the area being treated and your individual response to treatment.
